History

JBC was founded in 1975. In that year, the former racing cyclist Jan Baptiste Claes, nicknamed Jean, opened his first shop at Schulen, near Hasselt. Jean made his first sales in the shape of an American Stock. At that time, the products on sale ran from trousers to cafetières.

Meeting with success, he opened more shops. In 1985, Jean's children, Ann and Bart Claes, joined JBC and, from the early 1990s onwards, his company saw rapid growth.
Since that time, JBC has become one of the largest chains of clothing-stores in Belgium and Luxembourg. Our stores are located mainly on the outskirts of towns, though we also operate in a number of urban and commercial centres.

Our reputation, collections and stores evolved over the years to become a cutting-edge, professional brand in clothing with a strongly individual character. We apply a sophisticated marketing strategy and have adopted an advanced system of automation. We shall continue to develop and improve: what has been achieved today will be done even better tomorrow. From 1975 up to the present time, we have applied all our energies to pursuing that strategy.
